South Africa’s dragon fruit producers have established the Dragon Fruit Growers Association, seven producers from various provinces joining as initial members. With the increase in production of dragon fruit in South Africa, the association was formed with the aim of undertaking further research in production to improve cultivars, sustain and increase production, as well as increasing market access. With a largely untapped local market, the association aims to leverage off the demand and health benefits of the fruit, with the added objective of entering the export market.
