The first batch of Taiwanese frozen sugar apples were delivered directly to Japanese consumers by air on 16 December. The Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station has developed a novel technique, called whole-fruit frozen sugar apples, which is quickly frozen at -40°C after ripening. The sale period can be extended for more than 6 months. The frozen sugar apples can be eaten immediately after placing them at room temperature for 30 minutes. The taste is smooth and delicious like ice cream.
