In the first eight months of 2023, Türkiye experienced a substantial increase in top shell (Rapana) exports, totaling 1.07 thousand tons and generating USD 11.63 million in revenue, marking a surge of 13% in quantity and 66% in value compared to the same period in 2022. Leading destinations for top shell exports include South Korea (USD 5.56 million), China (USD 2.28 million), Japan (USD 1.54 million), and Taiwan (USD 1.45 million). In addition, the Black Sea region contributed USD 7.2 million to the overall top shell exports. The recent lifting of sea fishing restrictions in Türkiye's Seas on September 1 is forecasted to boost the top shell export sector, showcasing the resilience and potential of Türkiye's seafood industry on the international stage.
