Positive Price Outlook for 2022/23 Shepard Avocado Season From North Queensland

Prices for Shepard avocados started relatively low in 2021 because the summer Hass season in NZ/WA was oversupplied. However, prices for NZ/WA Hass for 2022 are at least 50% higher than last season, and a sharp decline in supply is anticipated in January 2023. Thus, when the Shepard avocado season begins, market prices are expected to increase. By the first or second week of February 2023, Shepard avocados of an exportable quality is expected to be ready for shipping. This outlook, however, may alter based on the weather throughout the remainder of the summer.
