In W24, the prices of Vannamei shrimp experienced significant fluctuations. In Indonesia, farm gate prices declined sharply due to rising transportation costs and pressure from countervailing duties imposed by the United States (US). In contrast, prices in India and Ecuador remained stable.
In China, during peak production levels, farm gate prices for Vannamei shrimp sized 60 pieces per kilogram (kg) plummeted to USD 4.13/kg (CNY 30/kg) in Guangdong, Jiangsu, Fujian, and Hainan provinces. This downward trend is expected to persist until the end of summer due to high production levels, causing many Chinese shrimp processing and exporting businesses to declare losses.
In Ecuador, farm gate prices for Vannamei Head On Shell On (HOSO)
sized 20 to 30 pieces/kg remained steady at USD 3.90/kg, while sizes 30 to 40 pcs/kg stood at USD 3.50/kg.
