As of mid-Nov-23, Vietnam's vegetable and fruit exports have reached an unprecedented turnover of over USD 5 billion, positioning the industry as the fastest-growing among the top 10 primary farm export items. Durian exports have played a significant role, contributing 40% to the total export turnover, exceeding USD 2 billion. Other fruits, including jackfruit, watermelon, pomelo, and longan, have also experienced substantial growth compared to the corresponding period in 2022.

This surge in fruit exports is due to heightened demand from China and other countries. By the end of Oct-23, Vietnamese exports to China constituted 66.1% of the total export value of the vegetable and fruit sector, reaching USD 3.2 billion, marking a notable 164.7% YoY increase. The vegetable and fruit export turnover is forecasted to sustain its upward trajectory, potentially reaching USD 5.5 billion by the end of 2023.
