Farmers in Tajikistan's Matchinsky district have produced a record harvest of melons and gourds, selling over 53,300 tons in the first eight months of the year, a 131% increase from the previous year. The total area dedicated to melon and watermelon cultivation has grown to 2,479 hectares, with the sown area for these crops increasing by 65 hectares from the previous year. The region's soil and climatic conditions are ideal for melon growth, and the use of new technologies and high-quality seed material has led to increased yields. The melons and watermelons are sold in various regions of the republic and exported to neighboring countries. An experimental batch was also delivered to consumers in Afghanistan.
