Brazil: Rice exports in May amounted to 197.6 thousand tons

Rice exports (husk basis) gained strength in May. The volume shipped last month was 197.6 thousand tons, against 39.7 thousand tons in the same period of 2022, according to the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz), based on data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (MDIC). Revenue from external sales of the cereal in May was US$ 68.1 million, against US$ 11.7 million in the same month of last year. From January to May, shipments of rice (husk base) totaled 702.6 thousand tons, equivalent to US$ 239.7 million. In the same period of 2022, shipments reached 558 thousand tons, representing US$ 162.4 million. Imports In May, Brazilian imports of rice (husk base) totaled 130.3 thousand tons, with disbursements of US$ 44.2 million.
