Academician Li Yu, a national model for poverty alleviation in China, has highlighted the benefits of the edible fungus industry for rural revitalization. He explained that the industry's 'five indisputable' characteristics do not compete with food or agriculture for resources and can even support national food security. The industry's growth, with a 700-fold increase since 1978, has played a significant role in China's poverty alleviation strategies. The Chinese Academy of Engineering plans to continue supporting modern agricultural technology and green development of agriculture to further assist in rural revitalization and share the fruits of development with low-income populations.
