India's sugar production for the 2022/23 season is projected to decrease by 4%, reaching 34.3 million tonnes due to adverse weather conditions impacting cane growth in major producing states. This reduces the country's global export potential, possibly leading to higher prices and allowing Brazil and Thailand to increase their exports. The decrease in production follows a record output of 35.9 million tonnes in the previous season. The revised production estimate could potentially fall below 33 million tonnes.
