On May 9, 2023, Vietnam saw a rise in the prices of coffee and pepper due to concerns over new crop production and potential supply issues. Coffee prices ranged from 53,200 to 53,900 VND/kg, influenced by both local heat conditions and global market trends. Meanwhile, pepper prices in the country increased by 1,000 VND/kg, reaching 72,000 to 75,000 VND/kg, driven by weather-related risks and expectations of decreased production from other pepper-producing countries. The global pepper market is projected to see a slight decrease in production in 2023, leading to increased market prices and active export activities in Vietnam, despite the slowdown in import demand from the US and EU.
