Agro exports in Brazil reach record value of US$8.84 billion for October

Agribusiness exports registered a record value of US$ 8.84 billion for the month of October, driven by the rise in international commodity prices. The value is 10% higher than the US$ 8.036 billion exported in the same month in 2020. According to the Secretariat of Commerce and International Relations (SCRI) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa), the increase in average export prices was decisive for the increase in foreign sales, as they grew 25.8% compared to October 2020. The quantity sold abroad, on the other hand, decreased by 12.5% in the period under review (October 2020 to October 2021). Imports of agribusiness products rose from US$ 1.2 billion in October/2020 to US$ 1.4 billion in October/2021 (+16.8%). Several imported products had significant increases in the average price, such as wheat (+15.5%), palm oil (+68.7%) and olive oil (+26.3%).
