MDPI, a Bali-based NGO formed by the seafood company Anova Food, has developed a sustainable approach to working with small-scale fishers in Indonesia, focusing on fair trade certification, financial literacy training, cooperative organization, and data collection to improve the sustainability and economic stability of the fishing industry. Operating in eight provinces, MDPI is enhancing the integration of small-scale fishers into the global seafood market, aiming to prevent marginalization and promote more equitable returns. The organization's efforts include pilot-testing an electronic logbook system to improve data availability for fisheries management, with the potential to benefit up to 2 million small-scale fishers in Indonesia.
