The Bulgarian beef cattle sector has received export certificates for small weaned calves and large fattened animals to Turkey, leading to record high beef purchase prices. The market dynamics have been influenced by the quarantine and the high feed prices, with an observed shift from dairy to beef farming. The Hereford breed is particularly valued and is the most numerous in the country. The Covid pandemic has also brought about changes, with herds finding new owners and a consolidation of holdings observed.
