Brazil has formed a working group to develop a strategic plan for tracing the movement and history of cattle and buffalo, a move aimed at fulfilling import requirements and combating deforestation related to cattle production. The group will include members from both the public and private sectors and is expected to present its strategic plan within 60 days. In April 2024, Brazil's agribusiness exports hit a record of US$15.24 billion, nearly half of the country's total exports, marking a 4% increase from the previous year, with soya beans being the highest value export. Meat exports in the same month reached US$2.21 billion, with a 27.5% increase compared to the previous year, largely due to a surge in demand for fresh Brazilian beef from China.
