The Brazilian government is praising the approval of an amendment to the Codex Alimentarius General Standard for Fruit Juices and Nectars, which will more specifically categorize grape juice made from the Vitis labrusca species, a staple of Brazilian production. This amendment, proposed by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), will facilitate Brazilian grape juice exports by aligning international standards with Brazilian production practices. The amendment will also establish different minimum Brix levels for grape juice produced from different grape species, aiming to reflect the unique characteristics of Brazilian grape juices and enhance their competitiveness in the international market.
