Cherries on the Ukrainian market have become 25% cheaper in two days

Published 2025년 5월 28일

Tridge summary

In Ukraine, cherry prices are rapidly declining. Over the past two days, the average wholesale price has fallen from 200 UAH/kg to 150 UAH/kg. EastFruit reports this, citing data from the Lviv wholesale market "Shuvar".

Despite the decline, the current level remains record-high for this period — the most expensive in the last 10 years. For comparison: in 2024, a kilogram of cherries cost 135 UAH at this time, in 2020 — 60 UAH, in 2019 — 35 UAH, and in 2016 — only 25 UAH.

The significant price increase is due to spring frosts during stone fruit flowering and prolonged cool weather in May, which delayed fruit ripening by almost three weeks.

Before the start of Ukrainian product supply, the market was dominated by imported cherries, which were sold at prices of 1200–1500 UAH/kg.

As a reminder, last week Ukraine also recorded a decrease in strawberry prices — an average of 35%.
