China's corn starch production has seen a significant increase, with a average annual growth of 10% over the past three years, reaching a record 31 million tons in 2019. However, the domestic consumption of starch has grown at a slower pace of 8% annually, reaching 28.3 million tons in the same year. China is now the world's leading producer of various deep-processing corn products, accounting for over half of the global output for corn starch, 60% for lysine, 68% for monosodium glutamate, and 85% for maltitol.
