Chinese consumers' increasing demand for durian has resulted in a 400% surge in global durian sales, with China's demand accounting for 91% of the global market. Durian imports to China have reached $6 billion in the past two years, and China's market continues to grow rapidly, fueled by tax reductions and simplified customs procedures under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). The strict epidemic control measures in China last year may have caused a lower base for durian imports, leading to a sharp increase in this year's data.
