In the first half of 2022, Spain experienced a notable increase in the export of cured hams and shoulders, with a total of 25,126.90 tons, a 14.5% increase from the previous year, valued at 257.9 million euros, marking an 18.9% rise. The average price per kilo also increased by 3.9% to 10.27 euros. The European Union accounted for 70.1% of these exports, with France and Germany as the primary markets, while Third Countries like Japan, the USA, and China saw significant growth, increasing by 110.53%, 66.93%, and 48.74% in value respectively. Boneless ham exports rose by 15.17% in volume and 19.03% in value, with Australia being the top consumer. This growth reflects the recovery and expansion of the global market for Spanish cured ham following the pandemic, driven by increasing demand in both traditional and emerging markets.
