Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, has identified Central Sulawesi as a key region for boosting durian exports to China, tapping into a market that imports durians worth approximately 8 billion US dollars. In discussions with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Luhut highlighted the potential economic benefits for Central Sulawesi and mentioned ongoing talks on horticultural research collaboration between Indonesia and China to enhance agricultural product quality and ensure food security. These initiatives were discussed during the 4th High Level Dialogue and Cooperation Mechanism (HDCM) RI–PRC Meeting in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, aiming to bring prosperity to the region through increased durian exports.
