Recent data from Egypt's Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics reveals a notable decrease in the country's tuna imports, with the export value dropping from 17 million and 136 thousand dollars in August 2020 to 6 million and 114 thousand dollars in the same month this year. This decline is part of a broader reduction in food commodity imports, which fell from 926 million and 60 thousand dollars in August 2020 to 699 million and 687 thousand dollars in August 2021. This decrease in imports was observed across various food items, including tuna, camels, palm oil, and sunflower seed oils.
