The European Commission has eased restrictions on melons from Honduras, following a update to the legislation on controls and emergency measures for non-animal food imports into Europe. This decision was made after a decrease in notifications through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) and positive findings from Member States' checks in the first half of 2022. It marks the removal of controls on 10% of Galia melons from Honduras, which were implemented in January 2022 after a Salmonella Braenderup outbreak in several European countries in 2021.
