A survey by the Brazilian Association of Biscuit, Pasta and Industrialized Breads & Cakes Industries (Abimapi) has found that the consumption of bread, pasta, and cookies in Brazilian households increased in 2020. The highest increase was in the consumption of industrialized breads, with 89.4% of Brazilian families purchasing the product. The pandemic played a significant role in this increase, with social isolation leading to more meals being eaten at home and emergency aid helping families purchase food. The industry expects a 3% to 5% increase in turnover and a 2% increase in volume sold in 2021.
