The Mexican Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is promoting the export of Mexican agri-food products, particularly those with halal certification, to markets with predominantly Muslim populations. There are over 40 Mexican companies with halal certification, exporting over 60 products to various countries in Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America. The ministry is participating in the "Mexico Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai" to showcase the quality of Mexican products and establish trade contacts in the Middle East and North Africa. The pandemic has not affected export activities, and a planned audit and training schedule is in place to encourage more Mexican companies to obtain halal certification.
