In August 2020, Vietnam's vegetable and fruit exports saw a significant increase of nearly 30% compared to July 2020 and 4.2% year-on-year, totaling approximately 280 million USD. Despite this monthly growth, the overall export performance from January to August 2020 showed a decline of 11.3% year-on-year, amounting to 2.26 billion USD, primarily due to a decrease in exports to China. The challenges in exporting to China, such as strict market management and increased inspection of documents, have led to a 29% drop in exports to that market from January to July 2020. However, exports to South Korea, Thailand, Japan, and Taiwan have compensated for this loss by showing notable increases of 6.6%, 112%, 4.5%, and 31%, respectively, compared to July 2019, contributing to the monthly growth in August 2020.
