Walnut cultivation in Ukraine has seen a consistent increase for the sixth year in a row, with hazelnut being the primary crop in new walnut gardens. The country has planted 15,444 hectares of orchards from 2018 to 2024, with 41% being walnut orchards. The Ukrainian Walnut Association anticipates continued growth in hazelnut cultivation and plans to enter the global nut market. Despite being a net importer of hazelnuts, domestic production from industrial gardens is on the rise. The 2025 budget includes funds for a grant program to continue supporting horticulture.
