Potato crops in Alava are expected to yield a smaller harvest due to high heat waves, with lower number of tubers per plant and smaller tuber size. Despite these challenges, the quality of the potatoes is good. The cooperative, Udapa, plans to start pulling the first potatoes by the end of August. They are also testing the feasibility of sweet potato cultivation. Additionally, they are planting two new potato varieties in collaboration with Neiker and using biostimulants to obtain a potato with zero residue.
