"Weeds, which due to biological characteristics develop faster than cultivated plants, will compete with them for vital resources, exert allelopathic pressure on crops, indirectly contribute to disease infection and pest damage, subsequently causing 'stretching' of plants in height, excessive exposure of the root collar above the soil surface, and the formation of a weak root system, which is undesirable for successful overwintering and may cause freezing," he argued.
