A women's cooperative in the Bayat district of Afyonkarahisar, Turkey, has successfully started mushroom production, particularly oyster mushrooms, in classes of an idle high school. The cooperative, which consists of eight women who received training and support from the local governorship and agriculture directorate, has generated high demand for their products both locally and internationally, including orders from the UK. The cooperative has received an investment of 250 thousand liras and aims to expand production and establish a mushroom production facility at a cost of 350 thousand TL. The women have emphasized their commitment to using no chemicals in the production process.
