In April 2023, Vietnam saw a positive performance in its cashew nut exports, with over 51,000 tons exported earning 305.5 million USD. From the beginning of the year, the total export volume exceeded 162 thousand tons, generating 952.5 million USD, marking a 6.1% increase in volume and a 4.5% increase in value compared to the same period in 2022. The United States emerges as the largest market, importing over 42.9 thousand tons valued at 250.2 million USD, contributing significantly to Vietnam's cashew nut export revenue. Despite these achievements, the industry faces challenges such as increased competition from Brazil and Ghana, with the US import volume from these countries surging. To overcome these hurdles and ensure the industry's sustainable growth, the Vietnam Cashew Association recommends the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to focus on research and development of specialized technical regulations for cashew nuts and by-products of cashew trees.
