In February, the country experienced a significant surge in sugar imports, witnessing a 118.88% increase in value to $307 million and a 58.76% increase in volume to 494,900 tons. Over the initial two months of the year, there was an 80.54% increase in import value to $727 million and a 35.42% rise in volume to 1.1925 million tons compared to the same timeframe last year. Brazil dominated as the primary sugar supplier, accounting for 99.83% of the total imports, with a notable 112.99% year-on-year increase in imports from Brazil reaching $635 million. Other significant suppliers included El Salvador, South Korea, and Thailand.
