Last month on the 24th, Yeonggwang County (County Mayor Jang Se-il) released 1.37 million young ark shells into the Chilsan Sea area in Yeomsan-myeon. This release was carried out from two ports, Seoldo Port and Hyanghwado Port in Yeomsan-myeon, with participation from Yeonggwang County officials and local fishermen. The project cost 200 million won, funded by the Marine Ecosystem Revitalization Project. The ark shell seeds, which were over 2 cm in size and of superior quality, were purchased from a seed production company in Gangjin County, Jeollanam-do, and released. This initiative is part of the "Marine Ecosystem Revitalization Project" aimed at restoring marine resources in the Yeonggwang area and improving the income of fishermen. Yeonggwang County annually continues to release suitable marine species and crustaceans based on local characteristics.
