10c of the Crop Insurance Act, a farmer who has obtained direct payments under the direct support scheme is obliged to conclude a compulsory crop insurance contract against the risk of damage caused by flood, drought, hail, negative effects of winter or spring frost. The provisions further indicate that the insurance obligation is deemed to be fulfilled if, from July of the year following the year for which the farmer obtained direct payments, at least 50% of the crop area against at least one of the above-mentioned risks is covered by insurance during a period of 12 months.
