In 2021, the Gürpınar Fisheries Market in Istanbul saw the trade of 114 types of fishery products, with a total volume of 45,810 tons, a decrease from the 48,737 tons traded in 2020. The most popular fish were anchovy, horse mackerel, and whiting. Anchovy was the most sold item with 15,40 tons. Lobster, sold for 488 liras and 61 cents per kilo, was the most expensive product, while anchovy was the cheapest at 16 liras and 31 kurus per kilo.
