The price of Jeju tangerines has reached a record high this year, with the average wholesale price per 5kg increasing by over 5% compared to the same period last year. The current wholesale price is 13,100 won, surpassing the previous high set in 1997. Despite the high sugar content and good quality of this year's tangerines, production has decreased by 4.1% from the previous year due to damage from a heat wave. This, along with poor harvests of other fruits, has contributed to the increased price. Despite efforts to maintain prices and distribute high-quality tangerines, wholesale prices are expected to rise further in December. Total tangerine sales last year reached a record 1.3248 trillion won, marking three consecutive years of record sales.
