Bulgaria: Livestock breeders are organizing a protest in Sofia

Will we have beef farming and greenhouse vegetables of Bulgarian production or will we open the shutters - to seek an answer to this question, farmer organizations are organizing a peaceful protest on November 23, Thursday, at 11:00 a.m. in front of the Ministry of Agriculture in Sofia. This decision was reached after repeated meetings with the Minister of Agriculture Kiril Vatev, press conferences and letters to the institutions in which the industry signaled the crisis situation in the farms. Against the background of high costs, assistance in the following aspects decreases significantly: • The transitional national aid rate drops from BGN 200 to BGN 73.67 for one cattle and from BGN 337 to BGN 129.60 for one buffalo; • Coupled support is expected to be down by 30-40% compared to previous years under the cattle and buffalo schemes; • Not all farmers have received their Ukrainian aid; • In the 2024 budget, almost no funds are provided for state aid, including under ...
