A Vietnamese business is planning to export grade 1 lychees to Thailand in time for the 'Vietnamese lychee' week at the Central Group retail system, starting June 23. This is part of a larger strategy to capitalize on the Thai market's potential, which has important opportunities for Vietnamese fruit exports despite the challenges of low market penetration and quality concerns in the past. Thailand's demand for fresh fruits and vegetables is substantial, with import turnover reaching $2.6 billion in 2020. Despite a decrease in vegetable exports from Vietnam to Thailand in 2021 due to Covid-19, the controlled spread of the epidemic is seen as a chance for Vietnam to increase its fruit exports to this market.
