In 2020, Germany's pepper imports saw a decrease with a total of 29.6 thousand tons imported, valued at $89.1 million over the first 11 months, marking a 4% drop in volume and a 12.9% decrease in value compared to the previous year. The average import price also decreased by 9.2% to $3,007 per ton. Germany imported less pepper from Brazil but more from Vietnam, and the import price from Cambodia and the Czech Republic increased. The volume of pepper imports from the Czech Republic significantly rose, despite the low quantity. By the first 11 months of 2020, Brazil's pepper made up 42.07% of total German imports, whereas Vietnam's share increased to 38.49% from the same period in 2019.
