Mayor Myeong Hyeon-gwan emphasized that the construction of the National Agricultural and Food Climate Change Response Center, the Jeonnam Regional Specialized Fruit Support Center, and the county agricultural research complex must proceed swiftly and without any obstacles, advancing to become a key focal point for Korea's agricultural and food climate change response. In 2021, Haenam County achieved a significant milestone by securing the National Agricultural and Food Climate Change Response Center, the largest national project since the county's establishment, through a public bid by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Funded with 59.4 billion won in national funds, the Agricultural and Food Climate Change Response Center, to be established in Pyeonghwa-ri, Samsan-myeon, will serve as a specialized and dedicated agency overseeing the formulation of national strategies for responding to climate change in Korea's agricultural and food sectors, predicting the impacts of climate change, and promoting climate-smart agriculture.
