Meat hike in Turkey

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry made a statement when the Meat and Milk Institution's (ESK) hike in red meat by 48 percent caused reactions. The Ministry argued that the ESK has 18 stores across Turkey, so that 'regulating their prices' did not affect the market. The ministry, claiming that the ESK sold minced meat at 83 liras and cubed meat at 92 liras, and that this price was 15 percent below the market, made the following statement: "The fact that the ESK regulates the prices of the products sold to the final consumer in 18 sales stores throughout Turkey does not affect the red meat market. After the new price regulation, the products delivered to the consumers in the ESK stores are sold at 15 percent below the market price.
