A total of 217 tons of fresh plums have been exported to Brazil as part of a campaign aimed at mitigating the pest Lobesia botrana, with the first shipment certified in January 2023. The campaign, which began in August 2022, requires that the plums do not contain immature or adult stages of the pest during production. In addition to the SMR protocol, other sanitary measures such as the installation of trapping nets, the Sexual Confusion Technique, and phytosanitary applications for pest control have been implemented. The main producers of the plums are in the departments of General Alvear, Tunuyán, and Las Heras in Mendoza.
