Between January and September 2021, Peru's agricultural exports saw a 19% increase compared to the same period in 2020, totaling US $ 5,984 million, as reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri). Non-traditional agro-exports, which made up 96% of the total, rose by 21% to US $ 5,590 million. The top non-traditional export products were fresh avocado, blueberries, grapes, and asparagus. Traditional agricultural exports, primarily driven by coffee, increased by 72% to US $ 395 million. The top destination countries for these exports were the United States, the Netherlands, and Spain, accounting for 78% of the total FOB value. From August to September 2021, agricultural exports experienced a 28% growth, with non-traditional exports reaching US $ 878 million and traditional exports increasing by 56% to US $ 136 million, resulting in a positive agricultural trade balance of US $ 1,396 million.
