The Khubsugul aimag in Mongolia will supply 39,000 tons of beef and horse meat to a major meat processing plant in Ulan-Ude, Russia, following an agreement between Khubsugul's governor, Pilzhegiin Lkhagvazhav, and Buryatia's head, Alexei Tsydenov. Khubsugul, which leads Mongolia in livestock numbers with over 5.6 million animals, also seeks to train Mongolian students in Buryatia's educational institutions, especially in agricultural fields like veterinary medicine. This development comes after Russia lifted a ban on Mongolian meat imports in 2022.
