The Myanmar Coffee Planting and Producers Association has announced that the country exports over 5,000 tons of its annual coffee production of 9,000 tons. The main importers of Myanmar's coffee are China, Thailand, the US, the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, Germany, Belgium, and Switzerland. The coffee grown in Pyin Oo Lwin and Yegan has been recognized as a world-class specialty coffee. The coffee plants are mainly cultivated in Shan State, followed by Mandalay, Magway, Taninthayi, Irrawaddy, Karen, and Chin State. The total coffee planting area in Myanmar is over 50,000 acres, with Arabica and Robusta being the dominant varieties, and the harvesting season lasts from November to February, with exports made in April of the following year.
