The Central Livestock Quarantine Agency in South Korea has announced that an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) has been confirmed at a poultry farm in Naju, South Chungcheong Province, which houses 7,908,000 birds. This marks the 19th case of AI at poultry farms in South Korea this autumn. In response, the agency has dispatched a rapid response team to implement preventive measures, including controlling access to and from the farm, culling animals, and conducting post-mortem examinations. Additionally, a temporary halt on the movement of poultry farms and related livestock facilities in South Chungcheong Province and Gyeongsang Province has been implemented. The agency is urging farmers to report any symptoms suggestive of AI to the authorities immediately.
