The oil and fat industry in Kazakhstan is facing challenges due to issues such as unreliable statistical data on oilseed production, unstable government policies, and logistical difficulties. The National Association of Oilseed Processors (NAPMK) has identified a discrepancy of over 30% between official statistics and its own data. The unpredictable state policies regarding the export of raw materials and logistical problems are negatively impacting the industry. NAPMK believes that the decision to introduce a 23% export duty on sunflower seeds, as done by Ukraine, is necessary to address the shortage of oilseeds in Central Asian countries.
