Nurek city in Tajikistan's Khatlon region has a pomegranate garden spread over 207 hectares, with 131 hectares being productive. The harvest, which starts on October 5 and ends on November 10, is both for domestic use and export. Initially, the region tried unsuccessfully to cultivate pomegranates from seedlings brought from Afghanistan and Iran. However, currently, all pomegranate products are made from local seedlings, ensuring the preservation of traditional taste qualities. The garden primarily grows soft-grained white and red pomegranates.
