The Chamber of Refrigerators Exporters (Cafrexport) of Argentina is seeking the intervention of Carlos Liberman, the Undersecretary of Fisheries, to address issues with hake exports to Brazil. The problems stem from Brazil's conflicting requirements that are not backed by science or sanitation, risking commercial flow. Despite the arguments that Argentine hake meets the country's consumption standards, these issues have persisted, with Brazil's health agency, DIPOA, raising concerns about parasites and hydrogen levels. Cafrexport has engaged in discussions at the Seafood Show Brazil, aiming to resolve these issues with DIPOA and SENASA. The situation is exacerbated by the high costs and complexities related to border crossings and the challenging macroeconomic exchange rate, affecting the competitiveness of Argentine products.
