Peruvian fresh asparagus exports for the year 2024 have decreased by 10.8% compared to the previous year, reaching 15.0 million boxes, with La Libertad, Ica, and Lambayeque leading in exports. The United States continues to be the primary destination, accounting for 73% of the exports, followed by Spain, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Brazil. Despite the decrease, IPEH remains optimistic about the campaign's results. The Technical Roundtable, led by Midagri, is addressing the issue of cadmium in agriculture, and a project with Senasa is using modified atmosphere treatments to control quarantine pests in green asparagus shoots, demonstrating the industry's commitment to quality, safety, and innovation.
